Biography
John A. Sellers is the founder and President of the Firm, bringing extensive experience to his clients across a diverse range of business law matters. He principally focuses his practice on securities regulation, securities compliance, mergers and acquisitions, corporate and LLC governance, aviation law, asset-based finance, commercial real estate and commercial transactions. John has a proven track record of representing a wide array of claims, from small and mid-size businesses to multi-national manufacturers, including those in financial services, automotive supply chain, real estate, resort hotels and private equity.
He has significant experience in securities regulation and compliance, advising on private placement transactions and representing broker-dealers and investment advisers on regulatory compliance.
His practice in aviation law led John to a passion for aviation. He is an instrument-rated private pilot and enjoys flying with friends and family in his airplane.

Mr. Sellers has significant experience in securities regulation and compliance for securities industry participants (such as broker-dealers and investment advisers). In the private equity arena, he represents both issuers and investors in private placement transactions.

Mr. Sellers is a member of the State Bar of Michigan, holding memberships in the Business Law Section and the Regulation of Securities Committee. He is also admitted to practice before the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan.
Mr. Sellers received his B.S. from Wayne State University (1989) and his Juris Doctorate from the University of Detroit School of Law (cum laude, 1992). He was a member of the Justice Frank Murphy Honor Society and the Alpha Sigma Nu Honor Society, and he served as the Managing Editor of the University of Detroit Law Review.
John's consistent recognition speaks volumes about his legal standing. He is rated “AV Preeminent” by the Martindale-Hubbell attorney rating system. He was selected to the 2023 and 2024 Michigan Super Lawyers list in the practice area of Mergers & Acquisitions, named among the Top Lawyers in Corporate Law by Dbusiness Magazine, and recognized as one of 22 “Go To Lawyers for Business Transactions” by Michigan Lawyers Weekly in 2024.
